Government Denies Claims Of Employment Freeze

Government has disputed claims of an employment freeze.

Secretary to the Cabinet Fredson Yamba says the Ministries of Education, Health and Local Government and Housing have been employing.

Mr. Yamba says government releases money to pay off benefits for retired workers every month to ensure that new employees are put on payroll.

Graduands in Zambia have in the recent past complained of a continuous employment freeze by government.

Others have complained that government is taking long to put new employees on payroll due to the new constitution which provides that retired government workers should be on payroll until their retirement benefits are paid.
