HH Asks Con-Court To Throw Out State’s Application In Treason Case

Lawyers representing UPND leader, Hakainde Hichilema have asked the constitutional court to throw out an application by the state to set aside the case in which Mr Hichilema and five others have petitioned the court.
Mr. Hichilema and five others are seeking constitutional bail, pending the hearing of their treason case.
Attorney General, Likando Kalaluka has argued that the petition be set aside as it is a duplicity of a similar matter filed before the high court.
Mr. Kalaluka has also asked the constitutional court to substitute the Government as it is a wrong party to the proceedings.
In their response Mr. Hichilema’s lawyers argued that the application by the state to set aside the petition for duplicity and substitute the Government be dismissed on grounds that it lacks merit.
