Amos Chanda, Richard Sakala Set Free In Contempt Case

The Lusaka magistrate court has set free Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations, Amos Chanda and Daily Nation newspaper proprietor, Richard Şakala on contempt of court and defamation charges.
This is in a matter in which UPND President Hakainde Hichilema asked the court to cite the duo for contempt of court over an article attributed to Chanda which was published in the daily nation that HH acted foolishly by failing to pave way for the president’s motorcade in Mongu.
But Magistrate Felix Kaoma has discharged Chanda and Sakala as his hands are tied following the DPP’s move to enter a nolle prosequi.
The magistrate says he has no jurisdiction to question the reasons for the nolle prosequi.
