ZESCO Gets Free Passage

ZESCO United’s CAF Confederation Cup match against Al Hilal El Obied of Sunday scheduled for this Sunday has been cancelled.
CAF acting General Secretary Essam Ahmed has stated in a letter that the match will not be played because of the ban slapped on the Sudan Football Association by FIFA.
Ahmed states that El Hilal is therefore disqualified and will not be allowed to participate in CAF inter-club competitions in accordance with FIFA’s decision.
Two rival groups have been claiming to run affairs of the Sudan Football Association although FIFA only recognizes the one run by MutasimGaafar Sir Elkhatim.
On June 2nd, Mutasim’seexecutive was forcefully evacuated from the premises by government following an order from the Ministry of Justice and Abdel Sir Elkatim took over the FA’s operation.
Meanwhile, Zesco United Public Relations Officer KatebeChengo has appealled to fans who bought pre-sale tickets for the match to visit the club’s secretariat for their refunds.
