Need For Sustainable City Planning Stressed

The Zambia Institute of Planners – ZIP has stressed the need for sustainable planning of cities.
ZIP President Cooper Chibomba, says towns and cities must support cultural, economic and social developments in an inclusive manner.
And speaking at the same event minister of local government Vincent Mwale, disclosed that his ministry has started the formulation of the national urbanization policy that will provide shared vision of sustainable urbanization.
He says this will help address the concerns of spreading of unplanned developments of Peri-Urban areas.
The duo was speaking in Siavonga at the official opening of the 2nd planning conference and general meeting of the Zambia Institute of Planners.
The conference has held under the theme Creating Livable Communities through Smart Growth and Development.
