17 COMESA Countries Not Yet Tripartite Free Trade Areas

Seventeen countries of the 19 member country COMESA regional block are yet to ratify the Tripartite Free Trade Area-FTA.
Egypt and Uganda are the only countries that have ratified the FTA.
COMESA Director of Trade and Customs Dr. Francis Mageni has since urged the 17 member states to ratify the agreement.
Meanwhile, the regional block has recorded trade increase of 8 Billion US Dollars this year compared to 1.3 Billion US dollars in 2,000.
And COMESA Director of Agriculture and Industry, Thierry Kalonje says Zambia has failed to make it on the top five member states attracting Foreign Direct Investment due to its commodity dependence on mineral.
The duo was speaking during the COMESA media workshop held at Fresh View Homes in Siavonga District of Southern Province.
