Former Ministry of Information Permanent Secretary Sam Phiri, Former Daily Mail Deputy Managing Director, Davies Mataka and media consultant Ngande Mwanajiti have been acquitted by the Lusaka magistrate.
The trio were facing allegations of diverting funds amounting to 195 Thousand Kwacha from the public media.
They were charged with corrupt acquisition of public property and unlawful printing and publication of a newspaper called the Zambian.
When the matter came up for ruling on no case to answer, Magistrate Aridah Chulu acquitted Dr. Phiri, Mataka and Mwananjiti as the there is no sufficient evidence adduced by the state.
