Indiscriminate Hunting Worries Chief Mumena

Chief Mumena of the Kaonde speaking people of Kalumbila District has noted with concern the alarming levels of indiscriminate destruction of wild species and cutting of trees in the name of making profits.

He says indiscriminate hunting has left the country with depleted animal stock and disturbing the ecological status of the game areas or parks.

Chief Mumena made the remarks in Solwezi when he received the ecological research report on the formation of Royal Mumena Ranch that will see the creation of a community game ranch in his chiefdom.

He has since appealed to members of the community to consider engaging in controlled hunting techniques by curbing destructive methods and enforcing the law on such culprits.
