Judge ‘Refuses’ To Handle Post Newspaper Case

High Court Judge, Mwaba Chanda has recused herself from handling the matter in which
Former Editor-in-Chief of Post Newspaper limited, Fred M’membe is challenging the winding up of the company without his approval.
M’membe has sued five of his former employees and the Zambia revenue authority for consenting to wind up the company.
When the matter came up for hearing Justice Mwaba declared interest in the matter because she knows M’membe on a personal level.
In this case M’membe claims that the consent order dated 10th January, 2018 in which the post was killed is illegal and was obtained by fraud.
He says Justice Sunday Nkonde his former employees and ZRA signed a consent judgement that declared the company bankrupt without hearing his applications challenging the winding up process.
The Former Editor-in-Chief of the post wants the high court to set aside the consent order which rendered the newspaper company insolvent.
