ZAM President’s Wife ‘Freed’

The Lusaka magistrate Court has granted Zambia Association of Musicians President Njoya Tembo’s wife Brenda free bail pending appeal to the high court.
According to her ground of appeal the convict argues that the trial magistrate Greenwell Malumani misdirected himself in law and fact when he found that the injuries sustained by the victim were as a result of being beaten with a cooking stick when the alleged weapon was not exhibited in court.
In his ruling on the bail pending appeal magistrate Malumani granted Brenda free bail with similar conditions stipulated on the police bond.
Brenda was on January 31st 2018 sentenced to five years imprisonment for assaulting her niece using a pressing iron.
