Silver medalists at the December 2012 under-20 Youth Games Zambia, return to competitive football when they face their Namibia counterparts on Friday night.

The team, comprising most of young players that lost 2-one against South Africa in the December Games, has seen the inclusion of Mansa based player, Albert Mwansa, and Chipata based player, Fashion Sakala.

The duo was identified during the recently held Nationwide Talent Identification Programme by Chipolopolo Boys Coach, Herve Renard.

The Namibia game, which is part of the African Union 50th anniversary celebration, will also see the senior Zambia and Namibia teams clash at Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek on Saturday.

Mohammed Essa is Zambia International Rally champion and has subsequently moved to joint third position in the African Rally Championship series.

Essa took lead from the first day on Friday and sustained the lead until the final day today. Following the victory, the 23 year old has now accumulated 25 points in the continental series. Giancarlo Davite of Rwanda who finished second has now gone top of the African Rally Championship standings after accumulating 33 points.

Jassy Singh despite finishing 5th has gone second on the standings. The next round will be held in Tanzania.

Brazilian Golfer Adilson Da Silva has won this year’s prestigious Zambia Open title. The 41 year old shot a final-round 73 to win the Zambia Open at the Lusaka Golf Club on Sunday, finishing three shots clear of his nearest rival Alex Haindl of South Africa.

The 2010 Zambia Open winner was electric, finishing eleven under par, one stroke ahead of Haindl and Martin Du Toit, who took an early lead on the first day of the championship.

Zambian Madalitso Muthiya finished the final round on a four-under-par total, to end the tournament as the country’s best finisher at this year’s tournament.

Mumba has formed a football organization called Football for All youths.

Mumba who was on Thursday in Kuku Compound developing some young talent says while on suspension he will keep himself busy by nurturing young boys and girls.

Mumba, coordinator of the organization says plans are underway to register it with the national sports council of Zambia.

Asked whether indulging himself in football activities is not an interference into the ban, Mumba says grassroot football is not organized by the Football Association of Zambia.

All is set for this year’s Zambia international motor rally that raves off from Lusaka show grounds on Thursday.

The development comes after the Zambia Motor Sports Association has met the 600 thousand kwacha rebased budget required to successfully stage the event.

Association vice president Sam Ching’ambu also confirms the arrival of Ugandan driver Jas Mangat, one of the three foreign drivers taking part in the rally.

It is the third series of the 2013 African Rally Championship rallies.

Zambia’s Mohammed Essa, who is the reigning African Rally champion and national champion Jassy Singh have also confirmed their participation in the rally.

 Football Association of Zambia-FAZ-President, Kalusha Bwalya has told the players to be driven by national pride and not money.

 The national team comprising mainly home-based players received between 10 and 20 United States Dollars each for beating Zimbabwe two-nil in an international friendly last month.

 The victory over Zimbabwe was Zambia’s first in nine matches since beating Bafana-Bafana 1-0 in the Nelson Mandela Challenge in November last year.

In an unexpected turn of events, Zanaco Football Club coach, Keagan Mumba has apologised to the Football Association of Zambia-FAZ for bringing the name of the sport into gross disrepute.

Mumba’s apology comes a day after club management lodged a notice of appeal against the three month ban imposed on him for his attacks on FAZ.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka, Mumba says the 90 day ban was too harsh and the club thought it wise to appeal against the move.

Mumba is on record to have criticized the nationwide team selection process, saying local coaches should have been consulted because they were in constant touch with the players.

In the second round played at Portico arena in the show grounds last night, LFC beat Roma 5-2 while Interwood beat PPAZ 10-9 on penalties after the match ended 1-1 in regulation time.

In other second round matches Shan Hai beat UNZA 5-6 while Value Auto beat Oriental Quarries 9-8 on penalties after the match ended 4-4.

In the quarter finals to be played this weekend, Interwood takes on CSJ while Red Sea plays Value Auto. Shan Hai battles with Mudi Stars while LFC tussles with Automotive.

The course, organized by the Zambia Amateur Boxing Federation and National Olympic Committee of Zambia is being conducted by a South African instructor.

The coaches were identified from the boxing Federation’s affiliated clubs, with national boxing team trainer Kennedy Kanyanta among the participants.

Speaking in an interview, Kanyanta is optimistic that the course will upgrade his coaching standards in the sport.

Among the subjects in the course include coaching responsibilities, sport psychology, physical preparation, training principles, training methods, boxing techniques, and competition preparation.

Zambia has reigned supreme against the Black Mambas with the recent match being a 2012 Africa Cup qualifier match in which the Chipolopolo Boys won 3-nil.

Renard has a horde of players to pick from, following the nationwide talent identification programme, and the locally assembled side from Zambian clubs that beat Zimbabwe 2-nil in a friendly match.

And speaking in an interview, COSAFA President Suketu Patel is confident Zambia will successfully stage the event.

The COSAFA Cup Zambia 2013 makes the competition’s welcome return to the global football calendar after a three-year absence, and will run from July 6^{th to 21st}
