Controversy Rages over Mining Project In Luangwa District

Africa is expected to face worse effects of Climate Change if mitigation measures are not put in place. Zambia is not an exception it requires political will and massive sensitization on the effects of climate change.
In a related story residents in Luangwa district have for economic reasons rubbished the issue of preserving nature in support of the proposed mine that has been earmarked for the Lower Zambezi National Park.
During a public hearing the locals in the district backed the move to have a mine opened in the national park so as to reduce poverty levels in the area.
The residents vowed to support the Copper mine project saying it will provide employment to young people in the area.
Speaking at the public hearing Luangwa Member of Parliament Patrick Ngoma echoed the sentiments from the people in the area.
