Chinese owned Collum Coal Mine has been fined seven hundred and twenty million Kwacha for not having registered its engineers with the Engineers Institute of Zambia-EIZ-.

EIZ president, Bernard Chiwala, told journalists in Lusaka today that the mine, located in Sinazongwe District, Southern province, has also been ordered to immediately register with the institute.

Mr. Chiwala said the penalty slapped on the mine was arrived at after EIZ inspectors discovered that the mine and its four subsidiaries were allegedly not registered with the institute.

EIZ is a professional statutory body mandated to promote, and regulate the practice and conduct of engineering in Zambia through an Act of Parliament number 17 of 2010.
