The Movement for Multi-party Democracy-MMD youth wing in Southern Province has endorsed convicted Kaoma Member of Parliament Austin Liato as vice president of the former ruling party.

The youths through their representative Alex Mupatayi have claim that Mr. Liato is a credible man who will lead the party.

The youths have however asked the MMD National Executive Committee-NEC to consider giving Mr. Liato one of the positions of the vice presidency.

Last month Mr. Liato was sentenced to two years imprisonment with hard labour over the 2.1 billion Kwacha dug out at his farm in Mwembeshi.

He was released on a 50 million Kwacha bail pending his appeal to the High Court.
