Harrington Maintains Stance on Renaming Lusaka Stadium

The Chipolopolo Soccer Fans Association has repeated calls to have the Lusaka Stadium renamed the 30 heroes’ arena.

Association patron, William Harrington, says renaming the stadium will be a perfect tribute to the 1993 air crash disaster victims.

2013 will mark the 20th anniversary of the victims, in which 30 Zambians, including national soccer team players, Zambia Air Force flight crew and media personnel who perished off the coast of Gabon in Libreville.

The soccer fans association successfully played a major role in proposing the name change of the Ndola Stadium, which was renamed Levy Mwanawasa by government.
