The Anti-Corruption Commission-ACC-is working closely working with International police and Denmark to ensure that fugitive former Ambassador to the United States, Attan Shansonga, is brought back to Zambia to face the law.

ACC Deputy Director General, Ireen Lamba says the commission is doing everything possible to ensure that Mr. Shansonga is extradited from Denmark.

Ms Lamba says the process has been delayed because the matter has been in court.

She was speaking to Muvi TV News in an interview in Lusaka.

Mr. Shansonga was last month arrested in Denmark following a warrant of arrest issued against him by Zambia’s security wings in 2004.

Mr. Shansonga who was facing 169 counts of theft of public funds amounting to over one million US dollars, fled the country to the United Kingdom in March 2004 and has since not returned.

He was charged together with former president Frederick Chiluba and former director of Intelligence, Xavier Chungu in corruption cases.
