Two thousand five hundred medical personnel are to be recruited this year.

Health Deputy Minister, Dr. Patrick Chikusu, says seventy seven billion kwacha is expected to be spent towards paying off packages to retired health personnel.

And Dr. Chikusa has disclosed that government is closely monitoring the utilization of the global fund adding that a transparent monitoring system has been put in place.

He expressed confident that the Churches Health Association of Zambia- CHAZ- who are principle recipients of the global fund will channel the resources to intended beneficiaries.

In June 2010 more than Three hundred million dollars of health funding to Zambia was suspended by the Global Fund to fight Aids, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

This followed concerns about alleged corruption in connection with grants to the Ministry of Health.
