Masebo Lands Ministerial Job

President Michael Sata has made some changes to his cabinet and created a new ministry to be headed by Chongwe Member of Parliament Sylvia Masebo.

The new ministry will be called the Ministry of Tourism and Arts.

The Ministry of Tourism has been detached from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Given Lubinda will continue as Minister of foreign affairs.

President Sata has also detached the Ministry of Labour from the ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Fackson Shamenda will head the Ministry of Labor while Home Affairs Minister Kennedy Sakeni has been moved to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Chawama Member of Parliament Edgar Lungu takes over from Mr. Sakeni as new Home Affairs Minister.

President Sata has also sworn in three Permanent Secretaries.

Among those sworn in include Velepi Mtonga as Permanent Secretary at the Public Service Management Divison, Felix Nkulukusa as economic management Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Finance and Pamela Chibonga as budget and economic affairs Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Finance.

And the President has also sworn in Rowland Msiska as Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet.

Meanwhile, the President has elevated four lawyers to State Council Status.

Those elevated include Mwikisa Louis Mukande, Emmanuel Bupe Mwansa, Mwila Chitabo, and John Mubanga Mulwila.

Speaking after swearing in Tourism and Arts Minister Sylvia Masebo and new Home Affairs Minister Edgar Lungu at state house this morning, President Sata urged the duo to work hard and ensure that they alleviate the challenges being faced at the ministries.

He said the new Minister should ensure that the country succeeds in having district attorneys in all districts as soon as possible.

President Sata has also urged new Minister of Tourism and Arts Sylvia Masebo to work hard and sell the country’s tourism sector.

Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations George Chellah emphasized that President Sata has not dismissed any minister in the mini cabinet reshuffle he made this morning.
