The National Paralympics Committee of Zambia says it has no powers on athletes that will take part in this year’s Paralympic games on a wild card entry.
A wild card entry gives an opportunity for an athlete to play at the games despite them not making the qualification criteria.
National Paralympics Committee of Zambia President, Lango Sinkamba, says it is saddening to hear reports of people protesting when they in fact, did not qualify for the games.
He explained that it is the duty of the International Paralympic Committee to choose any athlete to represent Zambia at the games.
As it stands, Lassam Katongo and Rhodah Mutale will represent Zambia at the 2012 Summer Paralympic Games, which will be the fourteenth Paralympics and will take place between 29 August and 9 September 2012.
The Games will be held in London, United Kingdom, after the city was successful with its bid for the Paralympics and Summer Olympic Games.
