Vice president Guy Scott says the PF government will not interfere in the current impasse over cotton pricing in the Zambia.
He says the Zambia National Farmers Union should look into the matter.
Dr Scott observed that currently there is no pricing formula complicating efforts in resolving the dispute.
Recently Cotton farmers in Zambia rioted and set ablaze a truckload of cotton in lint form, after the farm-gate prices of the commodity plunged by more than 50 percent.
The rioting dealt a blow to efforts by Zambia–Africa’s largest copper producer–to promote the cotton crop as it seeks to diversify its copper-reliant economy.
Around 20 percent of the country’s lint output is used in the local textile sector.
