A local contractor has noted that the Presidential grave site at Embassy Park in Lusaka should have not been done by a foreign contractor who does not understand Zambia’s cultural heritage.
National Council for Construction -NCC- immediate past Chairperson, Francis Ndilila says the Presidential burial site at Embassy Park should have been done by a local contractor who attaches traditional values to the country’s traditions.
He says Government should start considering awarding contracts to local contractors whom he said have now the capacity to deliver quality service.
Embassy Park, the official presidential burial site has been constructed by a Chinese company.
It was first opened as a presidential burial site four years ago when the then, President Levy Mwanawasa was buried on the 3rd September, 2008.
And last year, the second Republican President Frederick Chiluba who died in June was equally buried at the Chinese constructed Embassy Park.
