Civil Society Organisations Ponder On 2013 Budget

A consortium of Civil Society Organisations has taken a lead in making submissions to Government for consideration in the 2013 national budget.
The organizations made a presentation in Lusaka during which they thanked Government for opening up the budget process.
Speaking on behalf of about eight civil society organizations, Civil Society for Poverty Reduction-CSPR- Programmes Manager, Isabel Mukelabai said tax and non-tax revenue measures are more critical in the national budget.
Among the submissions the organizations made include increasing of Pay As You Earn threshold from the current two million to two point eight and that windfall tax for mining companies should be introduced in the 2013 budget.
