The duo is alleged to have brutally beaten Boniface Mukupa whom they accused of having stolen a laptop valued at four million kwacha and other items worth about one million kwacha.
Mukupa a resident of Mtendere Township, On March 25, was allegedly hit with the short button on his head at the police station and that he immediately started fitting and foaming at the mouth.
The death of Mukupa led to a protest by some PHI residents who moved the funeral to the Ben Mwiinga police post.
The two murder suspects first appeared before Lusaka chief resident magistrate Joshua Banda but were later allocated to principle resident magistrate David Simusamba where the charge was read out to them.
Magistrate Simusamba told Kalambatila and Chilwana that the offense they where facing is not bail able and not trial able before the Lusaka magistrate court.
He said they will have to wait for the director of public prosecutions to give consent for the matter to proceed to the high court for trial.
