Drunken driving to be screened

Zambia Police Service is in the process of procuring high tech potable equipment to detect alcohol content in motorists.

Inspector General of Police Stella Libongani says this is in a bid to curb road traffic accidents most of which are attributed to drunken driving.

Ms Libongani says the new equipment will be able to detect alcohol content immediately unlike the prevailing situation where drivers are taken to the hospital for diagnosis.

She has since directed traffic police officers in all provinces to intensify snap police check-points as well as motorized traffic patrols during day and night.
