Lubinda Clarifies on Sata, Mugabe Relationship

Foreign Affairs Minister Given Lubinda says President Michael Sata wants to act as a bridge for a free and fair election in Zimbabwe hence his close relations with Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe.

Mr. Lubinda says there is nothing wrong about the two leaders’ close relationship but that it is meant to strengthen the already existing bilateral relations between the two nations.

And when asked why President Michael Sata has decided to befriend a country facing international sanctions, Mr. Lubinda said the sanctions have been imposed on Zimbabwe as a single country.

Mr. Lubinda stated that the sanctions could have affected Zambia if they were imposed on the AU or SADC.
