Lawyers ask Court to Nullify Locci-Banda Case

Defense lawyers in the case involving Former Deputy High Commissioner to India Andrew Banda and Fratello Locci Director Antonello Locci have asked the court to nullify the charge.

Erick Silwamba, representing Mr. Locci, and Sakwiba Sikota for Andrew Banda, have submitted that the charge is illegal and bad at law.

This is in a matter in which Andrew Banda and Antonello Locci are charged with gratification for giving assistance with regards to contracts.

In the application the defense says the accused are charged under a repealed law, hence the need to nullify the charge.

The prosecution team led by Director of Public Prosecutions-DPP- Mutembo Nchito will respond to the application on Wednesday, August 15th 2012.
