The Freedom Fighters and Democracy Movement has described late Mama Betty Kaunda as a true nationalist, who contributed positively to the democracy of Zambia.

Movement National Coordinator Betty Chilunga says the nation has lost a gallant female leader, whose relentless services assisted Zambia in gaining her independence in 1964.

Chilunga led the Democracy Movement in paying their last respects to Mama Betty at the Mulungushi international Conference Centre in Lusaka, where her body lay in state.

Meanwhile, Mama Kankasa, weeped uncontrollably as she viewed the body of Mama Betty, who died in the early hours of Wednesday in Zimbabwe where she had gone to visit her daughter Musata Kaunda Banda.
