The Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) and the Office of the Lusaka District Commissioner have secured tents and relief food.
This is in readiness for any possible displacement that may be caused by floods.
Lusaka District Commissioner Christa Kalulu
has advised residents of Lusaka to ensure that they report any people that have been displaced due to rains to the office of their area members of parliament.
The latest displacement of people is in Kabwe’s Makululu compound where more than fifty families have been displaced due to torrential rains.
And Ms. Kalulu has attributed the fourteen cases of cholera recently recorded in Lusaka to unexpected floods.
She says her office has since embarked on intervention measures such as unblocking of drainages.
She further says her office has been meeting Members of parliament to discuss modalities |
