The arresting officer in a murder case involving Ink Tech Managing Director Mathew Mohan and two other directors of crown Paint, Idris Patel and Shabir Patel has told the Lusaka high court why he arrested the trio for murder. Detective Inspector David Siloka said he decided to arrest the trio after receiving information relating to the death of cyclone hardware Director Sajid Itowala from various witnesses. Inspector Siloka told the court that the two brothers from crown paint instructed their employee, Musa Ugrader Patel to deliver twenty thousand US dollars to Mathew Mohan days after Sajid’s death. He said another thirty thousand US dollars was paid to a named black man within the same period. Inspector Siloka said when he inquired on the terms and conditions of the said payments the two brothers did not give him a satisfactory answer. He said as a result he made up his mind to jointly arrest and charge the duo together with Mohan for murder. And Lusaka high court Judge Gregory Phiri has advised the defense counsel to be mindful in their manner of cross examining state witnesses. Judge Phiri said trial is not meant to trap witnesses but help the court arrive at the truth. This is in a case in which Mohan, directors of crown paint Idris Patel and Shabir Patel are jointly charged with the murder of cyclone hard ware director Sajid Itowala. Trial continues.
