Some CSOs Welcome Biometric Election System |

Some Civil Society Organizations in Zambia have welcomed the Biometric election system that is to be introduced by the Electoral Commission of Zambia in the forth coming General Elections.Biometric technology is used to measure and analyze human body characteristics, such as fingerprints, for either identification or verification purposes. Anti- Voter Apathy Project (AVAP) Executive Director, Bonny Tembo says the system is effective and will only work out if it is not hijacked. Change or Die Zambia Executive Director Father Bwalya says if properly utilized the system will build confidence in the electoral system. And SACCORD Executive Director Lee Habasonda says the system might be a source of conflict if not properly effected while Transparency international President Ruben Lifuka says ECZ should ensure that Biometric Election System befits people in remote areas of Country. And ECZ Executive Director Dan Kalale says all stakeholders will be notified as soon as introduction of the Biometric electoral system comes. Speaking in a telephone interview with MUVI TV News Mr. Kalale says ECZ can not give any position at the moment. |
