Lusaka based millers have dispelled fears of a looming shortage of mealie meal and maize bran on the market.
A snap survey conducted by MUVI TV Business News on Thursday revealed normal production output at APG Milling and Africa Milling companies.
The millers, however, speculated that the shortage of mealie meal being experienced on the Copperbelt could be attributed to smuggling of the commodity into the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo.
APG Milling and Africa Milling companies both said they would adhere to Government’s directive not to import the commodity for fear of creating a shortage on the local market.
