Opposition MMD Luangwa Member of Parliament Patrick Ngoma has threatened MUVI Television Journalist Chris Habeenzu and Times of Zambia Journalist, Nchimunya Muganya over the manner the duo covered a proposed copper mining project in Lower Zambezi National Park.
This follows last week’s report on the copper mining project opposed by the Zambia Community Based Natural Resources Management Forum and the World Wide Fund for Nature.
During a public hearing in Chieftainess Chiawa’s chiefdom, the organizations expressed fear that once the large scale copper mining project commences protected game management areas would be affected.
But Mr. Ngoma has accused the two journalists reporting against the people’s will. Mr. Ngoma warned the duo that they will face the wrath of the people of Luangwa if they continued reporting against the mining project.
The law maker also took a swipe at some organizations and people objecting the mining proposals. The public hearing was held at the Luangwa council hall in Laungwa district.
