Zambia to Face Mozambique In Cosafa Cup Quarter Finals
Hosts Zambia will face Mozambique in the quarter-finals of this year’s COSAFA Cup competition.
According to the draws conducted on Friday evening in Lusaka, the Chipolopolo Boys were pitted against the Black Mamba’s, a team was also on bye in the knock-out round.
Zimbabwe and Malawi, who are the other seeded teams, will clash in the other quarter-final match, while South Africa and Angola will have to wait for the winner of Group A and B respectively.
Participating teams in group A include Namibia, Tanzania, Mauritius and Seychelles, with the winner of the group facing South Africa in the quarter-final.
Quarter-finalists Angola will have to wait for the winner of Group B comprising Kenya, Botswana, Lesotho, and Swaziland.
The COSAFA Cup Zambia 2013 makes the competition’s welcome return to the global football calendar after a three-year absence.
The competition will run from July 6th to 21st.
And speaking after the draws, which also served as the official launch of the tournament, COSAFA President Suketu Patel said he is impressed that Zambia has shown a keen interest to host this year’s tournament.
