A 63 year old man of Solwezi has died after being knocked down by a vehicle in a hit and run traffic accident.
The incident happened when the driver of a Toyota Mark Two, Registration Number ABR 1828 lost control due to excessive speeding.
North-western Province Commissioner of Police Auxensio Daka says the deceased, Cosmas Tembo of Mushitala area sustained a deep cut in the head and died on the spot.
Mr Daka disclosed that the driver, Benson Laishi aged 47 of Golf area was later apprehended by members of the public.
Meanwhile, 41 Passengers have escaped death after the bus Registration Number ATB 1485 caught fire at Mumbezhi area between Zambezi and Kabompo.
Mr Daka says luggage worth Fourteen Thousand, Two Hundred and Fifty Kwacha was destroyed in the inferno.
