The annual rate of inflation for July 2016 has decreased to 20.2 percent from 21.0 percent recorded in June 2016.
Central Statistical Office Director John Kalumbi says the decrease in the annual inflation rate is mainly attributed to decrease in the prices of food and non-food items.
At a media briefing, Mr. Kalumbi disclosed Zambia’s annual inflation rate is expected to continue decreasing in the year.
And the monthly rate of inflation for July 2016 was recorded at 0.1 percent compared to 0.3 percent recorded in June this year.
Meanwhile, Zambia recorded a trade deficit in June 2016 valued at one point nine billion kwacha from seventy nine million kwacha recorded in May 2016 indicating that the country imported more in June than it exported.
