Zambia’s Women Movement Challenges Police To Stop Perpetrating Killings

The Women Movement in Zambia has challenged the police against perpetrating killings on pretext of crowd management.
Women’s Lobby Executive Director Juliet Chibuta in a statement read on behalf of other Women organisations, says police must stop using live ammunition on innocent citizens.
Ms Chibuta says the police has the duty to protect the lives of Zambians regardless of political inclination.
She further says acts of violence have had a negative impact on women aspiring candidates and their supporters who are in certain cases are stripped naked for wearing party regalia.
Ms Chibuta observes that most victims have suffered such attacks in full view of police officers, without being protected.
