Case Of Alleged Negligence Reported At UTH

A case of alleged negligence has been reported at the University Teaching Hospital-UTH-where a 31-year-old woman of Lusaka has accused the medical staff of allegedly killing her newly born baby.
Jacklyne Malunga says a named doctor ignored her plea to be taken for caesarian section but insisted on inducing her further even when it was evident that could not help her dilate further.Malunga explains that when she was taken to the hospital for child birth, she could not dilate to over three Centimeters for about 20 hours despite being induced twice. She says despite pleading that she was becoming weak and suggested that she be taken to the theatre, the doctor attending to her allegedly refused.
Mrs Malunga says she was only taken to the theatre much later, a situation which caused the baby to die upon delivery due to fetal distress. She has appealed to the Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya to seriously work on the attitude for the employees in the health sector.
