Councilors Advocate For Improved Emoluments

Councilors have urged the in-coming Local Government Association of Zambia President to advocate for emoluments to save them from becoming destitute. The councilors attending the Annual Conference have noted that their role of being civic leaders is being undermined despite them working hard to develop the country. Some councilors have confessed of failing to meet the needs of the people such as taking care of funeral costs and other community issues when called upon. They say the need for improved conditions  for councilors is long overdue as they provide a link between the people and other stakeholders in development.Kitwe Mayor Christopher Kang’ombe is being challenged by Chilanga district Mayor, Theresa Malila for the position of association president in the elections expected to take place tomorrow, Tuesday, October 4, 2016.Earlier, Alderman Maximo Ng’andwe told the Councillors to continue protecting the interest of local government by being proactive.https://youtu.be/HrSlqlsTBdo
