More Job Losses Looming At KCM

More job losses are looming on the Copperbelt province as Konkola Copper Mines-KCM plans to retrench an undisclosed number of employees.
According to Mine Workers Union of Zambia president Nkole Chishimba, KCM intends to shed off labour in the earliest possible time.
Mr. Chishimba says the union has decided to blow the whistle as they are demanding for transparency from the mining company.
He says the claim by companies that they are not making profit is false and should not be tolerated.
He also described the placing of Nchanga Underground mine on care and maintainable as surprising because the mine is still viable.
And Mines Minister Christopher Yaluma has demanded that Nchanga Underground mine should be reopened.
The duo was speaking in Kitwe after a closed door meeting.
