The Zambia National Farmers’ Union-ZNFU-says events of 2016, have dented the image of the Union but that the new board will work tirelessly to restore confidence and re-establish the good working relationship with all stakeholders.Union President, Jervis Zimba says to ensure survival of the Union, the new board takes responsibility of the situation that the Union finds itself in and pledges to reach out, rebuild and regain its strength in promoting and safe guarding the interests of its members and growth of the agriculture sector.He says as a matter of urgency, the new board will conduct a comprehensive review of the Union based on specific measures to be implemented in order to rationalize the use of resources.Mr Zimba acknowledges that the task ahead is very challenging especially that the cooperating partners have withdrawn financial support to the Union.He says prudent management will be at the center of surgical measures that will be implemented as the Union seeks to implement a survival plan.Mr. Zimba says this will demand that the issues of Corporate Governance, transparency, accountability and integrity are tackled head on.This is contained in a statement made available to MUVI TV News.ZNFU has been entangled in financial misappropriation allegations.
