Police Allegedly Fire Live Ammunition At HH, GBM

Police have allegedly fired live ammunition in a bid to stop UPND President Hakainde Hichilema and his vice, Geoffrey Mwamba from attending court in Luanshya district.
Lawyer Jack Mwiimbu has told the Luanshya Magistrate court that the duo was stopped by police despite assuring them that they were in Luanshya to attend court.
Mr. Mwiimbu described the action as unprecedented as the security is violating the rights of the accused.
In his ruling, Ndola based magistrate John Mbuzi has ordered police not to harass Mr. Hichilema and Mr. Mwamba.
Magistrate Mbuzi says every person deserves a fair trial and it was undesirable for police not to allow the duo to spend a night on the Copperbelt province in readiness for the court appearance.
Meanwhile, trial in the matter in which Mr. Hichilema and Mr. Mwamba are appearing on three counts of seditious practices and unlawful assembly starts on Wednesday.
