Japanese Envoy Stresses Zambia’s Need To Strengthen Disease Surveillance

Japanese Ambassador to Zambia Hidenobu Sobashima says it is inevitable for Zambia to strengthen disease surveillance following the current Ebola outbreak in neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo- DRC.
Mr Sobashima says although there has not been any record of the Ebola in Zambia, the country may be at risk.
The Chinese Ambassador has however, commended the Zambian Government for its efforts in preventing Ebola and other infectious diseases as seen from the installation of screening equipment at entry points.
He was speaking at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka where he handed over a thermal scanner to Ministry of Health.
The scanner is among thirteen others provided by the Japanese Government and installed across the country.
