Zambia’s Rule Of Law Under Severe Threat- Laz

And the Law Association of Zambia-LAZ has described the Zambia’s rule of law as being under severe threat.
Speaking at a media briefing following the arrest of Post Newspaper Proprietor Fred Mmembe, his wife Mutinta Mazoka and a Journalist Joseph Mwenda, LAZ President Linda Kasonde says the police have disregarded a legally binding order by the Revenue Appeals Tribunal ordering release of the items that were seized from the Post.
She says the actions of the Zambia Revenue Authority-ZRA and the Police are not only in bad faith but politically motivated.
Armed Police officers were on Monday unleashed on the Post, arresting the trio who attempted to enforce a legally binding order by the Revenue Appeals Tribunal.
Their lawyers were also allegedly manhandled by the ruthless police officers.
