Malawian Traditional Leader Calls For Removal Of Border Passes

Paramount Chief Mberwa of the Ngoni people of Malawi has asked the Zambian and Malawian governments to consider removing the use of boarder passes and passports when villagers want to cross the border.
Speaking when he graced this year’s Zengani Ceremony of the Tumbuka people in Chief Magodi’s Chiefdom in Lundazi, the traditional leader said there is no need to restrict villagers from the two countries to visit each other through documents.
And Eastern Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Patrick Mwanawasa says there is need to break tribal boundaries and live as one despite different tribal groupings.
