Two state witnesses have narrated before the Lusaka magistrate court how they were approached by the former Kabushi Patriotic Front (PF) member of parliament Bowman Lusambo at the Lusaka magistrate court before and after appearing at the Lusaka magistrate in a matter they were testifying as state witnesses in a matter the law maker was the accused person.
Erness Sumani 53, a retiree of Ndola informed the court that on 6th April 2022 Lusambo approached him together with other witnesses who were to testify to live the politics stating that the state wanted to destroy the relationship they had.
According to the witness, the words made him uncomfortable and felt as if he wasted his time to appear before court.
This is a matter in which Lusambo is charged with three counts of attempting to interfere with witnesses.
In count one, it is alleged that Lusambo between 1st February and 30th April 2022, in Lusaka, in order to obstruct the due course of justice did endeavour to dissuade or prevent Cosmas Kapula Chalusa to give evidence as a witness before a court of law.
The matter has since been adjourned to 17th April 2023 for continuation of trial.
