THREE PEOPLE PERISH IN A MINE DISGUISED AS A FARM

Three people have died, while several others left injured after a mine collapsed on them in Chongwe’s Kasisi Area

The deceased include one Chinese national and two Zambians.

The Chinese owned and run mine has been operating for over a year now, under the disguise of a farm.

The incident happened in the early hours of Thursday, 19th January, 2023 and it took the combined efforts of the local community and the Fire Services to retrieve the bodies from underground tunnels.

Workers spoken to lament of poor safety measures, low wages and bad language by the Chinese Nationals.
